HexEditor Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 2, 2026
HexEditor does not collect, upload, or share any of your data.
What we collect
Nothing. HexEditor has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking of any kind, and it bundles no third-party SDKs.
Your files
Files you open stay on your Mac, always.
- HexEditor does not make network requests itself: there is no code path in the app that sends file contents, file paths or file names anywhere. Purchases, subscriptions and restore purchases are handled by the App Store (StoreKit) — that traffic is between Apple and the device, not us.
- Edits are written back only to the location you choose.
- The app requests no permissions beyond its own sandbox and never touches files you have not explicitly chosen.
The only thing stored on your Mac
HexEditor saves one preference locally:
- The Open Recent list — the paths of files you have opened, stored in the app's own preferences (macOS
UserDefaults). Its only purpose is to populate the Open Recent menu. You can delete the app's preferences at any time, or remove a file from disk and it will disappear from the list on its own.
To make memory-mapped editing of large files safe, the app also reads the modification timestamp of files you open, in order to detect whether the file on disk has been replaced by another program. This is a local read only; it never leaves your device and is never used to identify you.
Crash reports and diagnostics
HexEditor does not send crash logs or diagnostics to us. macOS crash reporting behaviour is controlled by your system settings and is unrelated to this app.
Children
This app does not collect information from children — it does not collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date on this page. Because the app collects no data, no material change is expected.
